The three most important information systems (IS) concepts introduced in Chapter 2 of Laudon and Laudon (2014) were (a) the business processes of information systems, (b) the types of information systems, and (c) systems for collaboration and social business. Three Most Important IS Concepts

Business Processes and Information Systems
According to Laudon and Laudon (2014), for a business to operate, there would need a business process or set of goal-directed tasks that define how specific business tasks are to be performed. This involves many different pieces of information. There are two approaches that information technology can make its way into the business process. These approaches could be to incorporate information technology into an existing process, or a whole new process can be designed. A successful business plan consists of a manner in which work is organized, uniquely coordinated, and focused to produce a valuable product or service. The business process of information systems helps the company effectively achieve the automated parts of the process and to operate efficiently and enhance the overall performance of the company. This makes it possible to manage all their information, make better decisions and improve the implementation of their business process. Every business, no matter what the size, must complete four functions to succeed. It must produce the product or service, market and sell the product or service, keep up with the financial transactions, and perform simple human resources responsibilities, such as hiring and retaining employees. Information and communication technologies have made these sorts of projects and undertakings successful and beneficial. Not only that, but they have opened up a whole new business front for businesses actually to be able to sell information service technologies as a service and product. Importance.

So far, we have explained business processes. Business processes are essential to business and are dynamic in nature and involve activities. With the introduction of the Internet and the advancement of other information systems, a view to understanding how they might improve by using information technology to achieve greater efficiency, innovation, and customer service creates a well-rounded business process that can be achieved easier. Information technology enhances business processes in two main ways. First, increase the efficiency of existing processes by automating steps that were manual. This will improve the business processes in an effort to reduce expenses, improve productivity, and increase the quality has become a major goal for companies around the globe. Second, enabling entirely new processes that are capable of transforming the businesses by changing the flow of information, replacing sequential steps with parallel steps and eliminating delays in the decision-making process. The more businesses that start to use information systems, create new companies as a result of the business information industry, serving the business to business sector. Types of Information Systems

Once the business process is understood, we can now look at information systems and how they support the business process of a company. There are several types of information systems depending on the type of organization. According to Laudon and Laudon (2014), a company has systems to support different groups or levels of management that include transaction processing systems (TPS) and systems for business intelligence. Transaction processing systems is a basic business systems that serve operational level. This computerized system performs basic activities and records the daily routine transactions of a company necessary to conduct the business. .
