What is your identity?
Identity is a state of mind in which someone recognizes/identifies their character traits that leads to finding out who they are and what they do and not that of someone else. In other words it's basically who you are and what you define yourself as being. The theme of identity is often expressed in books/novels or basically any other piece of literature so that the reader can intrigue themselves and relate to the characters and their emotions. It's useful in helping readers understand that a person's state of mind is full of arduous thoughts about who they are and what they want to be. People can try to modify their identity as much as they want but that can never change. The theme of identity is a very strenuous topic to understand but yet very interesting if understood. My identity is everything about me. Identity is more than a description, personality, or way of expression. Identity shows you how you are inside out. My identity is that I’m a middle class working student that plays football for Humboldt State University. I am a black male five foot nine. This is my identity. When we are born as babies we develop by absorbing information around us. In many ways as babies we are like computers we do not believe something because it is necessarily true, but simply because we have no other point of reference- we know no different.We grow up making judgments and decisions based on the information given to us by our parents, carers and society in general. As we grow we create a sense of self- known as our ‘I’ we usually identify as male or female, and apply an identity related to our race, religion and culture. If we are male we look at our mother and conclude, we are in someway not like her- we look to our father or the most dominant male figure in our lives and conclude we are more like him in some way therefore the identity of male is constructed and we then begin to learn what being a...
