Students and Foreign Languages
In today’s society there are many issues on whether or not students should have to learn a foreign language. Some people argue that it is a waste of time because students don’t see the need for it so they don’t try. I believe that students should take the time to learn a foreign language because it could help them in high school and college, jobs, and traveling to foreign countries.

Students in high school and college should be learning a foreign language. It helps them have more knowledge in other languages, but it would also help them have a better understanding of their own language. Another reason you should study a foreign language in high school and college is because it will help you associate with people more effectively. For example, if a foreign exchange student comes to your school and you knew what language he or she spoke, you could help them with their class schedule. I think knowing a foreign language will benefit you while you are in high school and college, and it will be worth it to take your time to learn a foreign language.

The world around us is growing and changing, which also means there are many more job opportunities. In a job, it would come in handy for you to know a foreign language. It would help you to be more educated, and you would be able to talk to a larger variety of people. For example, you could have a co-worker that doesn’t speak very good English, or you could have a customer that can’t understand a menu or something about whatever they are purchasing. There are many ways knowing a foreign language would benefit you while you are working.

Many people in the world enjoy traveling, and in some countries they don’t speak the same language as you. It would be a great experience to be able to travel to these far off countries because it would give you knowledge of places around the world, but it would be an even greater experience to be able to travel to these countries and understand their...
