Decision making can be influenced by different factors one of this factors is music, music improves learning, memory, decision making and other cognitive factors, music can be a distraction or a motivation depending on how a student uses it, playing a background music while studying will help create a relaxing mood, lessens stress, heartbeat and blood pressure that helps you concentrate in studying and the calm effect of music improves focus that leads to improved academic performance such as arithmetic, decision making skills and memorization or recall. (Scott, 2011) Tanck (2008) discussed that the process of decision making is one of the most complex mechanisms of human thinking, as various factors and courses of action intervene in it, with different results. It as a series of cognitive operations performed consciously, which include the elements from the environment in a specific time and place. The researchers came up with this study to determine the perceived effects of music in decision making skills of the students of Our Lady of Fatima College of Nursing.
Statement of the Problem
This study attempts to determine the effects of music in improving decision making skills of the students of Our Lady of Fatima University College of Nursing.
1. What is the demographic profiles of the respondents according to: 1.1. Age;
1.3. Type of Music;
2. What are the effects of music in decision making skills?
3. Is there a significant relationship between the effects of music in improving decision making skills?
There is no significant relationship between the effects of music and the decision making skills of the respondents.
Significance of the study
The study is about the perceived effects of music in decision making skills. This research study helped the students and any individual interested in improving their decision making skills in the most affordable and relaxing way possible.
The study benefits the following;
Nursing Students.The research made the students aware of the effects of music in their decision making skills.
Student and Readers.It increases their awareness and knowledge on the effects of music in decision making skills and this research is used for their own personal improvements and benefits. This study benefits not only to the students in Our Lady of Fatima University but to all students who read this research.
Professors.It focus on helping their students to improve their decision making skills, study habits and academic performances by the use of music and inspired professors to use other means of teaching and making learning fun.
Community.This study informs individuals and the entire community that music can help every member regarding their decision making skills for their personal individual needs. This study helped the community to be aware of the positive effects of music and make full use of it in making progress in their respective communities.
Future Researchers.It gave future researchers ideas, insights regarding the study, to use the study as a support in future researches and further improve the study.
Scope and Delimitation
The study focused on the perceived effects of music in decision making skills, it will be conducted in Our Lady of Fatima University Quezon City Campus.
The selection of respondents was limited only to the nursing students enrolled in Our Lady of Fatima University College of Nursing from 18 to 25 years old who listens to music...
