Why College education is important to me.

One of the most important things in live that humans normally start to lose when we get older, is the ability to get surprised. Everything around us is not exciting anymore and tends to be all around a routine, mundane and repetitive. However, and luckily for us, there is one part in live that always come to the rescue: the ability to learn. Education is my most useful personal source in order to maintain and improve my ability to get surprised, learn to think, and, during the process, maintain my mind fresh and updated, keeping myself curious and hungry for more.

The most important advantage in getting college education is to keep the ability to get surprised. It comes a time in live when everything starts to turn into a routine, and the mind starts to get really comfortable with the environment and the issues around it. This is a critical stage in which you tend to lose the capacity to feel astonished. When you get surprised, curiosity unties your interest and open doors to new possibilities, maintaining your mind hungry for more information, and learning ways to do things differently. This, is ultimately a good way to improve your job performance, increase motivation and inspiration while following your passions, or simply solve daily tasks issues. When the mind is surprised, it fuels curiosity in us.

College education is also very important to learn how to think. Earlier this week during lunch hour at the office, I was discussing this issue with my coworkers. We all agreed that college education is basically the easiest way to learn how to think, and how to apply the topics learned to a daily job or responsibility. When someone mentioned the quote by Mr. Albert Einstein: “The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think” It clearly reflected my thoughts on this discussion.
