Causes ans effects of deforesation in Amazon

Deforestation is a construction that human cut down the trees to make land available for other uses. It is also considered to be one of the contributing factors to global climate change. Without trees, forestlands can quickly become barren land. We are losing the oxygen produced by the trees and it takes hundreds of years in the making to grow another one. Nowadays, each country is facing the deforestation problems. Looking at the core concept of deforestation in Amazon through both sides, we can find its causes and effects. The deforestation of the forests is occurring due to various reasons. There are some common causes of deforestation. Firstly, forests are being cleared for cattle pasture. Today, Brazil is the world’s largest exporter and producer of beef. Much of its expansion has taken place in the Amazon, which currently has more than 80 million head of cattle, up from 26.6 million in 1990 and equivalent to more than 85 percents of the total US herd (Bulter, 2012). Secondly, due to the agriculture, poor farmers use fire for clearing land and every year satellite images pick up tens of thousands of fires burning across the Amazon. For example, they use those land to plant with crops like bananas, palms, manioc, maize or rice (Bulter, 2012). Thirdly, It is about infrastructure improvements. Road construction in the Amazon leads to deforestation. Besides, it is used for building materials, furniture, and paper products (Bulter, 2012). Fourthly, another cause of deforestation is commercial agriculture. For example, Brazil is the world’s leading exporter of soybeans because the United States give them high prices in these products. That’s why soybeans have become one of the most important contributors deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon (Bulter, 2012).
