What Effect Does Climate Change Have On The Migration Of Birds?
Climate change has many different types of effects on birds, and their migratory paths. Using five different resources which give information on birds and migration, I will describe and explain how climate changes affect birds. As well as describing and explaining how different climates affect birds, I will give many different examples of birds and how they react to different climates, or different temperatures.
First off, one source I will speak of is where, the author Luisanna CarrilloRubio gives background information on different types of migratory bird species. She also does a good job at describing and explaining different conditions some of the birds go through because of rising temperatures and climate change. She gives specific examples of birds and their flying routes, showing how they travel during climate change to survive. For example she speaks of the critically endangered Siberian Crane
a wetland migratory bird whose worldwide numbers have gone down to 3,000 individuals. She
shows us how they travel up along the east coast of Asia until they reach the warmer parts of Russia, where they spend the rest of their winters once they get there.
Next, I will use information from a source that discusses how climate change makes birds
alter their migratory patterns. The source explains how because of increased temperatures in
eastern North America, birds are picking up the pace along their yearly migratory paths; according to the researchers at University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. The researchers go into detail about a study made by a scientist and his team, in which they analyzed the migratory paths of different birds species. They tracked and recorded up to 18 ...
